About

Hello

You know, I’ve often thought about writing a blog. I’ve played with the idea but never really done anything about it, until now.

Welcome to the Quality In Software blog. The purpose of this blog is to share and to learn about quality within software.

My name is Glenn Nitschke. I am a software consultant with a company called DWS. I live in Adelaide, South Australia.

Quality has always been important to me. I remember my days scouring the Internet for quality best practice, learning about Unit Testing and one-click build scripts. I remember the books I’ve read as well including Introduction to the Personal Software Process by Watts S. Humphrey.

Much of this reading and playing at home was turned in to reality when I landed my first real software job at Motorola. My title was Systems Tester and I was responsible for designing and executing formal test cases. This was a good place for me to begin my career. Motorola’s Adelaide software center was CMMI 4.5 and on its way to CMMI 5.

Upon Motorola pulling out of Adelaide, I moved to DWS. I do more than just testing now. So far, my work has seen me fix bugs, perform test coordination, write test plans, and even author processes in software quality assurance. My skills are expanding in to performance testing, having already developed a methodology for gaining performance requirements.

My interests in quality don’t just exist in the realm of testing and fixing defects though: that’s what this blog will express. Beyond work, I have other interests that you’ll learn about, and of course, you’ll likely hear about Jenna, my loving fiancee whom I love dearly.

This blog is will be a focal point for me. It’s about software quality but it’s also about me.

Thank you for reading my blog and for being a part of my blog.

Kind Regards
Glenn
